Join Peter Bowerman, seasoned “commercial” freelancer; business coach; and successful author of the popular Well-Fed titles as he shares practical, proven, and proactive strategies for making a handsome full-time living as a writer, even in a tough economy.

“Memoir Writing – Crafting Your Life into a Story Worth Reading.” Bev Browning

Bev teaches the Memoir Master Course for the Anhinga Writers’ Studio. Her publishers include Random House, Zondervan, and Rodale.

Saturday April 24th

“The Writer’s Life”
presented by Bev Browning
Frank discussion conducted by a veteran of professional, full-time writing for major publishers for 25 years. William Rawlings Jr. and A. Louise Staman Panel -“Anatomy of a Thriller: What Makes a Book a Thriller? How Do Thrillers Differ From Mysteries? How Are These Works Positioned in Today’s Crowded Market?” Many of the world’s greatest works of literature, both fiction and non-fiction, are in reality classical mysteries or thrillers. In crafting stories with elements of surprise and suspense, writers must understand the differences between the two, the basic structure of each, and how these come into play. (Physician turned novelist William Rawlings, Jr. is the author of The Rutherford Cipher; The Mile High Club; Crossword; The Tate Revenge, and The Lazard Legacy).

Special Presentation Speaker Rosemary Daniell  “Something to Fall Back On: How Writing Brings Light to Life’s Darkest Moments.” Rosemary Daniell has been using creative writing to heal herself since her mother committed suicide in 1975, and continues to do so today. She is currently completing a memoir in which she reveals the pain of mental illness and addiction in her family. The founder of Zona Rosa, the well known series of writing and living workshops she leads throughout the U.S. and Europe, Rosemary teaches writers to use creative techniques to free themselves from the emotional ups and downs that hinder us in achieving our living and writing goals. Learn how to write about the hard things and how to develop a daily healing writing practice despite the demands of your busy life. Rosemary is known as one of the best writing coaches in the country. Over eighty Zona Rosans have become published authors. Her books include Secrets of the Zona Rosa: How Writing (and Sisterhood) Can Change Women’s Lives, The Woman Who Spilled Words All Over Herself: Writing and Living the Zona Rosa Way, Fatal Flowers: On Sin, Sex and Suicide in the Deep South, Sleeping With Soldiers, and four other books of poetry and prose.
